The producer licence will be valid for five years and may be renewed thereafter before its expiry.

Over the years the production and use of marijuana has been illegal in the country and possession of the drug attracted sentences of up to 12 years in jail.

Lesotho granted its first licences for marijuana production in September last year (2018), believed to be the first African country to do so.

The legality of cannabis varies wildly from country to country worldwide.
Countries such as Uruguay, Canada, Australia, Netherlands, Colombia and Czech Republic have amended their laws to allow consumption for medical purposes.
Marijuana is also legal for medical purposes in 29 out of 50 States of the U.S.A including the capital  Washington DC, although their approaches can significantly differ. Some allow medical marijuana dispensaries and home cultivation. Others only allow home cultivation. And a few allow dispensaries but not home

CUBA CLAIMS CANADIAN PRIME MINISTER IS FIDEL CASTRO'S SON.

The suicide note left by Fidel Castro’s eldest son has rocked the Cuban nation this week, with the most astonishing revelation being the claim that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was his half-brother and the son of the late Fidel Castro. The handwritten note left by Fidel Castro Diaz-Balart, 68, the eldest of Fidel Castro’s children, appears to confirm the longstanding rumor in Cuba that Fidel Castro fathered Justin Trudeau after a public tryst with Margaret Trudeau in 1970. “ Castro Diaz-Balart, who had been attended by a group of doctors for several months due to a state of profound depression, committed suicide this morning ,”  Cubadebate website reported. The death of the high-profile government nuclear scientist, also known as “Fidelito”, or Little Fidel, because of how much he looked like his father, stunned the nation, however it is his “ explosive ” suicide note that has set tongues wagging in Havana. Amid a wide-ranging barrage of compl...

MALARIA VACCINE PROVES HIGHLY EFFECTIVE IN BURKINA FASO.

A vaccine against malaria has been shown to be highly effective in trials in Africa, holding out the real possibility of slashing the death toll of a disease that kills 400,000 mostly small children every year. The vaccine, developed by scientists at the Jenner Institute of Oxford University, showed up to 77% efficacy in a trial of 450 children in Burkina Faso over 12 months. The hunt for a malaria vaccine has been going on the best part of a century. One, the Mosquirix vaccine developed by GlaxoSmithKline, has been through lengthy clinical trials but is only partially effective, preventing 39% of malaria cases and 29% of severe malaria cases among small children in Africa over four years. It is being piloted by the World  Health  Organization in parts of Kenya, Ghana and Malawi. The Oxford vaccine is the first to meet the WHO goal of 75% efficacy against the mosquito-borne parasite disease. Larger trials are now beginning, involving 4,800 children in four countries. QUEEN ELIZABETH WANTED PRINCE HARRY HIS WIFE TO LIVE IN AFRICA.

London, ENGLAND: The Queen had reportedly put together a secret plan for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to move to South Africa before they stepped down as senior royals. In his new book Battle of Brothers, biographer Robert Lacey claims Her Majesty suggested the Sussexes take a year or two out in Johannesburg in 2019. The monarch knew how desperate the couple were for an "ordinary" existence and felt something similar to the years she spent in Malta in her youth could do them good. She had tasted "normal" life during her 'Malta Moments' between 1949 and 1951, alongside Prince Philip, who was serving as a naval officer on the Mediterranean island. The future Queen would often fly out to stay with the Duke of Edinburgh, setting her up well for returning home to her duty, explained Mr Lacey. Harry and Meghan are said to have been interested in the move to Africa, where their relationship had previously blossomed, or somewhere else in the Commonwealth. In the p...

SOUTH AFRICAN EFF LEADER COMPARES BLACK PEOPLE WHO CELEBRATE WORLD RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIP TO CONGREGANTS WHO DRANK PETROL.

Johannesburg, S. AFRICA: The EFF spokesperson says South Africans must 'stop living a lie' when it comes to racial unity. Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi stuck to his guns regarding tweets about the Springboks' Rugby World Cup victory which have been met with criticism and controversy, in an eNCA interview. After discussing the expulsion of former EFF member Lungile Gabuza from the party, Ndlozi was asked about his recent tweets on the Springboks' World Cup victory. Ndlozi laughed when he was brought up, and then gave his thoughts at length.  “We have probably been very misunderstood, we admire the type of black excellence that has been demonstrated by the black players in that white-dominated sport in South Africa, the white-dominated team. "We celebrate them on the basis that it's black excellence like we do black people who do exceptionally well."  However, Ndlozi added: "There is a pr...

GAMBIA ACCUSES EX-PRESIDENT SUPPORTERS OF SHELTERING REBELS.

Yahya Abdul-Aziz Jemus Junkung Jammeh (born 25 May 1965) is a Gambian politician and former military officer who was the leader of the Gambia from 1994 to 2017, firstly as chair of the Armed Forces Provisional Ruling Council (AFPRC) (1994–96) and then as President of the Gambia (1996-2017). The Gambia’s new government has accused supporters of the former president, Yahya Jammeh, of welcoming foreign rebels into their homes in an attempt to destabilise the country. Residents of Foni, the Gambian region where Jammeh had a vast farm and allegedly“bunkers and treasure”, have been hosting members of a rebel group that for three decades have been fighting for the secession of their region from Senegal. Giving them a safe haven in the Gambia threatens to upset relations with Senegal, which surrounds the tiny west African country on three sides, and was instrumental in ejecting a recalcitrant Jammeh after he lost the presidential election for the first time in his 22 years in ...

SOUTH AFRICA EFF PARTY LEADER SUFFERS A FATAL DEFEAT IN HIGH COURT.

Pretoria, SOUTH AFRICA: It was a dull and disappointing day , after the EFF leader Julius Malema’s legal challenge to have the Riotous Assemblies Act of 1956 declared unconstitutional, was on Tuesday removed from the roll in the Gauteng High Court Pretoria. The matter was on the opposed motion roll and scheduled to be heard this week, but Judge Sulet Potterill removed it so that the parties could approach Deputy Judge President Aubrey Ledwaba for another court date. This is because arguments are expected to run into more than one court day and a special judge had to be allocated to hear the matter. Malema faces criminal charges of allegedly contravening the Riotous Assemblies Act after calling for land invasions. In 2014 during the party’s elective conference in Bloemfontein, Malema told his party members that they should occupy the land. In June 2016, he told supporters in Newcastle in KwaZulu-Natal to occupy land as it belonged to the black people. He earlier ...
