ASSOU-EKOTTO SLAMS KYLIAN MBAPE OVER AFRICAN HERITAGE.

Ex-Tottenham full-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto has reignited his spat with Kylian Mbappe.
The 34-year-old Metz player called out the Paris Saint-Germain star earlier this year on social media by suggesting the French World Cup winner does not care that much about his African heritage.

Mbappe was born in France to parents of Cameroonian and Algerian descent, but opted to play for France and the former Spurs defender has questioned how bothered the forward is about his African roots.

Benoît Pierre David Assou-Ekotto (born 24 March 1984) is a professional footballer who plays as a left back.
Ekotto began his career at Lens and in 2006 was signed by Tottenham Hotspur. He became a first-team regular for the Premier League side, totalling 200 appearances across all competitions. He was loaned to Queens Park Rangers in 2013 and released in 2015, after which he joined Saint-Étienne. Despite being born in France, Assou-Ekotto represented Cameroon at international level, participating in two FIFA World Cuptournaments.

Mbappe, 19, like Assou-Ekotto, was born in France to parents of Cameroonian and Algerian descent, but, unlike the full-back, opted to represent his country of birth at international level.

The forward spoke publicly about his desire to honour his family's roots by helping to develop the game in Africa during a meeting with French president Emmanuel Macron and Liberian president George Weah.

But Assou-Ekotto was having none of it and let rip on social media.
He tweeted:
“European players of African origin who hold Africa in their hearts and who want to help the sport in Africa… blah, blah, blah… while rushing to play for a European national team make me chuckle.

“It looks good when you have a cause though.”

His outburst sparked a sarcastic response from the young attacker on Twitter.

And the defender who spent nine years at White Hart Lane has now reopened the debate about identity in multi-cultural France.

He told RMC:
“Put yourself in the place of the players from Cameroon.
“You, a French player are going to come to develop us… Stay at home, help your guys in Bondy, in your neighbourhood, in your France.
“Yes, you love Africa, but you never go there.
“So what's the story? Yes, you love your wife, but you go out with another.
“It's a game I know, manipulate public opinion, blah, blah blah.”

The handwritten note left by Fidel Castro Diaz-Balart, 68, the eldest of Fidel Castro’s children, appears to confirm the longstanding rumor in Cuba that Fidel Castro fathered Justin Trudeau after a public tryst with Margaret Trudeau in 1970. “ Castro Diaz-Balart, who had been attended by a group of doctors for several months due to a state of profound depression, committed suicide this morning ,”  Cubadebate website reported. The death of the high-profile government nuclear scientist, also known as “Fidelito”, or Little Fidel, because of how much he looked like his father, stunned the nation, however it is his “ explosive ” suicide note that has set tongues wagging in Havana. PRESIDENT RAMAPHOSA'S SON INSULTS EX-PRESIDENT ZUMA'S SON.

President Cyril Ramaphosa's son Tumelo has caused a social media flurry by calling former president Jacob Zuma's son Duduzane a "fool" in a bragging post on Instagram. Yesterday, Ramaphosa's spokeswoman Khusela Diko said Tumelo was a "grown man" who had to answer for himself for his actions. "The president, however, finds such behaviour extremely unfortunate and distasteful and not in keeping with the values he espouses or the manner in which he would expect anyone to conduct themselves." Tumelo, in a brief video posted on his account this week, which was later deleted, took a dig at the son of his father's predecessor after arriving at a Dubai hotel. The video, which had already been saved and was re-posted and retweeted several times by some Instagram and Twitter users, sparked debate. Some users questioned the lack of outrage at Tumelo's remarks and comments, with others speculating on what would have happene

WHY CHINA'S DOG-MEAT MARKET HAS EXPANDED.

Every year during the summer solstice, a dog-eating festival takes place in Yulin, a city in the southern Chinese province of Guangxi. This year’s event ended with the usual controversy. Photographs of dogs being fried or treated cruelly went viral.  The Jinhua Hutou Dog Meat Festival, as it is called, was abruptly canceled last week. Animal-rights activists and American congressmen demanded that China ban the eating of dogs and cats, as Taiwan did in April. Yulin’s local government took modest steps to restrain or hide some of the more contentious activities, such as selling dogs in food markets. Still, the festival was packed. Why has the controversial culinary habit become so popular in China? Contrary to cliché, dog meat has not always been a common item in the Chinese diet.  Unlike in the West, eating dogs has never been taboo, but it appears to have been rare in the past. Government accounts single out butchers who sold dog meat, suggesting it was unusu

MINERS IN NAMIBIA DISCOVER SHIPWRECK LOADED $13 MILLION WORTH OF GOLD.

Image: Dieter Noli. Diamond miners working off the coast of Africa were beyond surprised when they discovered a 500-year-old shipwreck teeming with gold worth $13 million and other treasures. The ship, aptly named ‘Bom Jesus’ or ‘Good Jesus,’ was like a miracle to the miners. Bom Jesus was first identified and discovered by geologists working for the mining company De Beers in 2008. It was found off the coast of Namibia near Oranjemund. Image: Dieter Noli. According to experts, Bom Jesus is from the Golden era of Portuguese explorers who set sail in all directions in search of new lands to colonize. The ship left Lisbon in 1533 under the supervision of Sir Francisco de Noronha. But on its way to India, it mysteriously vanished. Before the discovery, the miners were draining an artificial salt lake. As the lake dried out, many lost ships were found at the bottom of the lake. Bom Jesus was among them, and it is considered the oldest of all the shipw
