SOUTH AFRICA'S RICHEST WOMAN OFFERS 1.4 MILLION RAND REWARD FOR ZUMA'S SON & GUPTA.

One of the South Africa's richest women Magda Wierzycka is offering R1.4 million of her own money to help authorities track down and arrest Ajay Gupta and Jacob Zuma’s son Duduzane who are understood to be fugitives.

The CEO of Sygnia Group and former head of institutional business at Coronation Fund Managers and former CEO of the African Harvest Group is adamant that this is a reward and not a bounty.

“A bounty is a concept of hunting for people. The idea here is that people keep their eyes open and report Duduzane [Zuma] and the Guptas if spotted  to the authorities so there is an arrest. This is not people hunting for criminals and people taking law into their own hands

“I don’t believe that they are walking around in shopping malls. There are people hiding them, there are people shielding them. From my information I know that they are protected by bodyguards, they and their families and anybody else who might be sheltering these people can assist. It is an appeal to those,”
she said.

Wierzycka is not convinced that they may have flown to Dubai.
Earlier during the week reports were doing the rounds that Ajay Gupta was seen at OR Tambo International Airport en route to Dubai.
She said the family was known for being frequent flyers as shown by #GuptaLeaks emails.

“Duduzane might also be here or could have been smuggled out of the borders into Lesotho or Swaziland. Their options for moving around are fairly limited. It is essentially that they are found. I have heard people saying my money would be better used building schools. If they are arrested we may recover more money to build more schools, just what Cyril [Ramaphosa] said he plans to do last night,”
she said.

The staunch supporter of whistleblowers and advocate of cleaning up in the rot in Corporate South Africa said she doesn’t have a wish list for Ramaphosa’s rumoured Cabinet reshuffle, but wishes for competent people.

“I would like to see competent people in Cabinet. There are a lot of good people. I don’t have a wish list. You want people with integrity and international reputation for the minister of finance. It must be someone who can speak to creditors and investors. I think there a lot of credible people that Cyril [Ramaphosa] has at his disposal and he must just make sure those are appointed,”
she explained.

Additional R500 000 has been offered as top-up for the the initial R500 00o reward “for Gupta and Duduzane.”

She is offering a further R200 000 “for the first bodyguard to Ajay Gupta who phones in”. She said the bodyguard will still receive the money even if the person who made the call is the “wife or girlfriend.”

She is also also offering R200 000 reward to “the first of the eight who appeared in Bloemfontein Magistrate Court to turn state witness.”

She is not optimistic that any of the “Gupta lieutenants” will turn state witnesses but “the civil servants looked shell shocked. I am not trying to bribe them but I am sure they have information the authorities can use.”

MALARIA VACCINE PROVES HIGHLY EFFECTIVE IN BURKINA FASO.

A vaccine against malaria has been shown to be highly effective in trials in Africa, holding out the real possibility of slashing the death toll of a disease that kills 400,000 mostly small children every year. The vaccine, developed by scientists at the Jenner Institute of Oxford University, showed up to 77% efficacy in a trial of 450 children in Burkina Faso over 12 months. The hunt for a malaria vaccine has been going on the best part of a century. One, the Mosquirix vaccine developed by GlaxoSmithKline, has been through lengthy clinical trials but is only partially effective, preventing 39% of malaria cases and 29% of severe malaria cases among small children in Africa over four years. It is being piloted by the World  Health  Organization in parts of Kenya, Ghana and Malawi. The Oxford vaccine is the first to meet the WHO goal of 75% efficacy against the mosquito-borne parasite disease. Larger trials are now beginning, involving 4,800 children in four countries. ZIMBABWE VICE-PRESIDENT'S WIFE ARRESTED FOR FAKING MARRIAGE.

Harare, ZIMBABWE: Mary Chiwenga, the estranged wife of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, has been arrested for causing a fraudulent marriage between herself and the former army General to be registered. Chiwenga and his wife are said to have fallen out after the former model allegedly asked the VP to formalise their marriage when he was on his sick bed at a South African hospital. The former army general who led the military coup that toppled long time ruler Robert Mugabe in 2017 spent the better part of this year battling for his life in hospitals in South Africa, China and India. When he was flown to China, Marry was allegedly banned from visiting him. On his return to Harare on November 23 she was not among those that welcomed him at the Robert Mugabe International Airport. Marry was also conspicuous by her absence a week later when Chiwenga held a prayer meeting and a party at his homestead in Wedza. The two are said to be living separately after the VP moved i...

DRUG GANGS ARE THREATENING THE EXISTENCE OF A SPECIES OF ABALONE IN SOUTH AFRICA.

Poachers linked to South African drug gangs are threatening the existence of a species of abalone, a sea snail that is highly prized by restaurants in China, a new report says. Stocks of abalone are declining at an unprecedented rate, according to research by conservation group Traffic. The affected abalone species, Haliotis midae, is only found in the waters off the coast of South Africa. Traffic wants it to be put on the global list of endangered species. About 96 million abalone are thought to have been poached since 2000. Abalone are large and round, and cling to rocks in the shallow, shark-infested waters off Cape Town. Every year some 2,000 tonnes of abalone flesh are dried, and smuggled abroad, mostly by air to Hong Kong and beyond, where they are re-hydrated and served as a gastronomic treat. South African police have managed to seize some of the illegally sourced abalone. Image: TRAFFIC. South Africa has a number of measures in place to pro...

GHANA PERFORMS FIRST BRAIN SURGERY WITHOUT CUTTING SKULL.

Accra, GHANA: A seven-member team of Ghanaian doctors has performed the first-ever brain surgery in the country, without cutting the skull. The minimally invasive brain surgery is the technique by which health workers safely remove brain and skull-base tumours through smaller and more precise openings that minimise collateral damage; that is, injury or other damage inflicted on an unintended target such as blood vessels and nerves. Technically known as ‘Endovascular brain aneurysm coiling’ (because there is no need to cut into the skull to do the surgery), the technique passes a tube (catheter) through the groin (junctional area between the abdomen and the thigh on either side of the pubic bone) up into the artery containing the brain aneurysm, a process known as endovascular coiling or coil embolisation. The two-hour surgery was ...

WHY CHINA'S DOG-MEAT MARKET HAS EXPANDED.

Every year during the summer solstice, a dog-eating festival takes place in Yulin, a city in the southern Chinese province of Guangxi. This year’s event ended with the usual controversy. Photographs of dogs being fried or treated cruelly went viral.  The Jinhua Hutou Dog Meat Festival, as it is called, was abruptly canceled last week. Animal-rights activists and American congressmen demanded that China ban the eating of dogs and cats, as Taiwan did in April. Yulin’s local government took modest steps to restrain or hide some of the more contentious activities, such as selling dogs in food markets. Still, the festival was packed. Why has the controversial culinary habit become so popular in China? Contrary to cliché, dog meat has not always been a common item in the Chinese diet.  Unlike in the West, eating dogs has never been taboo, but it appears to have been rare in the past. Government accounts single out butchers who sold dog meat, suggesting it ...
