UGANDA OPPOSITION LEADER "BOBI WINE" ARRESTED IN ZIMBABWE.

Harare, ZIMBABWE:
Ugandan 'People Power' founder, singer and Kyadondo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, alias Bobi Wine’s invitation to attend the Zimbabwe opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) conference turned into nightmare after he was arrested by security personnel.

The singer who had been invited by MDC chairperson Nelson Chamisa as a key note speaker at the event in the city Gweru, Zimbabwe, was rounded off by Zimbabwe security personnel at Robert Mugabe International Airport as soon as he touched down on Saturday.

Bobi, who was in company of his spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi, were arrested at the airport and detained for over two hours.

“True, he was detained but released,”
a Zimbabwean Journalist confirmed to Nile Post.

MDC spokesperson Jacob Mufume, also confirmed the arrest of Bobi Wine by Zimbabwe security personnel.

“He was detained for over an hour, he will narrate his own ordeal,”

Mufume said, adding that;

‘ MDC condemns restriction of travel towards fellow Africans. We want Africans to be able to travel anywhere they want.”

“This is what we have in Africa. We must liberate the continent of artificial borders created by capitalists, a Berlin in Germany led by a chap known as Otto von Bismarck.

“This is what authorities that respect colonial borders do. The MDC does not respect that. We want Africans to be able to travel anywhere they want,”

The singer was however released later and he delivered his speech to an opposition audience in Gweru, where he called for unity.

“As I was entering Zimbabwe at the airport, I had to sign, an understanding that I am not coming to Zimbabwe to sing,”

“I understand it because in some countries one has to get permission because I am known as a performer. I understood it.

“I also understood it because my music is not just entertainment. It is edutainment and that is why it has been banned in Uganda and other African countries that fear revolution through music,”
said Wine, before singing a rendition of Giant Mama Land.

Bobi Wine was not alone, also arrested was Babu Owino, the Kenyan MP for Embakasi and Kenyan opposition Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna

All Wine and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) representatives Babu Owino and Edwin Sifuna were detained at the airport for some two hours by state security agents who went on to demand that ODM secretary general Owino disclose to them contents of the speech he was going to deliver at the same event.
“I told them that I carry a message from my president, Raila Odinga and they can listen to my address today,” said Owino.
Odinga and late MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai were close friends while their parties enjoyed mutual respect, having been in almost exact situations in Kenya and Zimbabwe.

At the Gweru event, a group of ZANLA liberation fighters pledged their allegiance to the MDC.

MALARIA VACCINE PROVES HIGHLY EFFECTIVE IN BURKINA FASO.

A vaccine against malaria has been shown to be highly effective in trials in Africa, holding out the real possibility of slashing the death toll of a disease that kills 400,000 mostly small children every year. The vaccine, developed by scientists at the Jenner Institute of Oxford University, showed up to 77% efficacy in a trial of 450 children in Burkina Faso over 12 months. The hunt for a malaria vaccine has been going on the best part of a century. One, the Mosquirix vaccine developed by GlaxoSmithKline, has been through lengthy clinical trials but is only partially effective, preventing 39% of malaria cases and 29% of severe malaria cases among small children in Africa over four years. It is being piloted by the World  Health  Organization in parts of Kenya, Ghana and Malawi. The Oxford vaccine is the first to meet the WHO goal of 75% efficacy against the mosquito-borne parasite disease. Larger trials are now beginning, involving 4,800 children in four countries. ALBERT EINSTEIN'S PRIVATE DIARIES REVEAL HIS RACIST VIEWS.

Newly translated into English, Albert Einstein’s private travel diaries from the 1920s reveal that he was racist in his early life, especially toward Chinese people. The diaries were written between October 1922 and March 1923. In one entry Einstein wrote that the  “Chinese don’t sit on benches while eating but squat like Europeans do when they relieve themselves out in the leafy woods. All this occurs quietly and demurely. Even the children are spiritless and look obtuse.” Speaking about the “abundance of offspring” and the “fecundity” of the Chinese, he continued: “It would be a pity if these Chinese supplant all other races. For the likes of us the mere thought is unspeakably dreary.” Einstein also derided the people of Ceylon, which is now known as Sri Lanka. In Ceylon, he wrote, the locals “live in great filth and considerable stench at ground level,” before adding they “do little and need little. The simple economic cycle of life.” Einstein also gave his thou...

Image: Dieter Noli. Diamond miners working off the coast of Africa were beyond surprised when they discovered a 500-year-old shipwreck teeming with gold worth $13 million and other treasures. It was found off the coast of Namibia near Oranjemund. Image: Dieter Noli. According to experts, Bom Jesus is from the Golden era of Portuguese explorers who set sail in all directions in search of new lands to colonize. The ship left Lisbon in 1533 under the supervision of Sir Francisco de Noronha. But on its way to India, it mysteriously vanished. Before the discovery, the miners were draining an artificial salt lake. As the lake dried out, many lost ships were found at the bottom of the lake. WHY CHINA'S DOG-MEAT MARKET HAS EXPANDED.

Every year during the summer solstice, a dog-eating festival takes place in Yulin, a city in the southern Chinese province of Guangxi. This year’s event ended with the usual controversy. Photographs of dogs being fried or treated cruelly went viral.  The Jinhua Hutou Dog Meat Festival, as it is called, was abruptly canceled last week. Animal-rights activists and American congressmen demanded that China ban the eating of dogs and cats, as Taiwan did in April. Yulin’s local government took modest steps to restrain or hide some of the more contentious activities, such as selling dogs in food markets. Still, the festival was packed. Why has the controversial culinary habit become so popular in China? Contrary to cliché, dog meat has not always been a common item in the Chinese diet.  Unlike in the West, eating dogs has never been taboo, but it appears to have been rare in the past. Government accounts single out butchers who sold dog meat, suggesting it ...
