MICHAEL JACKSON SLEPT IN THIS GAS CHAMBER IN HOPES OF LIVING 'FOREVER'

Jackson swore by the machine, saying he took 'several long naps' inside the chamber with the hopes that he'd 'live to be at least 150'. He said the chamber made him feel like 'a new person'

California, US:
This is the oxygen chamber Michael Jackson famously used to combat the ravages of time - uncovered by DailyMailTV gathering dust in the back of a warehouse.

The King of Pop posed for a now-legendary photo showing him lay inside the $100,000 glass chamber in 1986.

He was quoted at the time as saying:
'I'll live to be at least 150.'

Now, just days after the 10th anniversary of Jackson's death, DailyMailTV found the blue machine hidden away in a shipping container at a warehouse in southern California .

The Sechrist 2500B hyperbaric oxygen chamber (HBO) has ended up at a company called Hyperbaric Modular Systems, which specializes in the alternative treatment.

This is Michael Jackson's hyperbaric oxygen chamber he used 30 years ago, which DailyMailTV uncovered hidden away in a shipping container at a warehouse in southern California.

Can a hyperbaric oxygen chamber help you live forever?
A hyperbaric oxygen machine works by supplying the body with three times more oxygen and saturating the body with it.

According to Dr. Ian K Smith, there are multiple benefits of the machine.
'People were using hyperbaric chambers to rejuvenate their skin. It increases the amount of blood flow. The belief is it can help tissue.'

That hypoxic tissue gets oxygen and promotes the healing process while fighting bacteria.

The machine is typically used for divers to treat decompression sickness and burn victims by administering oxygen to the wounds at pressure to speed up healing.

Staying in the chamber for longer than one to two hours could cause oxygen toxicity in the body, resulting in death.

Our reporter was able to discover exactly what the Heal the World singer experienced when he used the equipment 33 years ago.

DailyMailTV also established the history of the chamber and how he ended up in Jackson's hands.

In 1984, the singer suffered second and third degree burns to his face and scalp after his hair caught fire on the set of a Pepsi commercial.
After the accident, he was treated at the Brotman Memorial Hospital in Culver City, California.
The following year Jackson settled out of court with Pepsi over his injuries and was given $1.5million.
The star then donated all the money to establish the Michael Jackson Burn Center for Children at the hospital.
It was with this money that the hospital bought the $100,000 oxygen chamber to treat burn victims.

Jackson is pictured begin taken in an ambulance after he was burned while shooting a Pepsi commercial in 1984. He won a $1.5million lawsuit and the star then donated all the money to establish the Michael Jackson Burn Center for Children.

The King of Pop bought the chamber from Brotman Hospital and had it moved to his Neverland Ranch in 1994 where he would use it for two hours at a time.

HBO treatment improves the healing time of burns by administering oxygen to the wounds at pressure.

When the unit arrived at the new burns center Jackson visited the hospital and was pictured lying horizontal in the chamber with his eyes closed.

The equipment had never before been seen by the general public and when The National Enquirer ran the photos months later, they caused a sensation.

Jackson was at the height of his fame when the magazine claimed the regimen was part of a wacky plan to keep himself alive forever.

The National Enquirer quoted the singer as saying:
'I've taken several long naps in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber and when I awoke I felt like a new person - I've never felt better.

'I definitely want one for my home so I can sleep in it at night. I plan to get one immediately. I want to live to see world peace, a world without hunger, a world where children and all mankind know no suffering.

'I believe if I treat my body properly I'll live to be at least 150.'

It was later revealed that Jackson himself had leaked the pictures as a publicity stunt to promote his film Captain Eo.

Michael Levine, a prominent Hollywood publicist, confirmed that he helped Jackson and his manager Frank DiLeo plant the story in the press.

Despite the planted story, Jackson did in fact request his very own hyperbaric oxygen chamber in 1994.

HBO treatment was used for years to treat divers with decompression sickness, but doctors later discovered other applications.
While in the chamber the patient breathes three times more oxygen than breathing air and the entire body is also fully immersed in oxygen.

The King of Pop bought the chamber from Brotman Hospital and had it moved to his Neverland Ranch in 1994 where he would use it for two hours at a time.

Dials on Jackson's hyperbaric oxygen machine show a red emergency vent button as well as pressure dials to control the valves to the chamber.

These nodules show that no more than 70 pounds per square inch can be fed into the machine. There is an emergency vent button in case there are malfunctions with the pressure.

This is a measuring tool on the hyperbaric modular machine that Jackson used.

Adrian Garay, President/CEO of Hyperbaric Modular Systems (HMS), a specialist company which makes large commercial HBO chambers that can hold up to 12 people, tells DailyMailTV:
'In 1994 Michael expressed interest in having his own personal chamber.

'He approached Brotman Hospital and they sold the chamber he had donated back to Michael and it was installed in Neverland.

'Michael did not sleep in the chamber as doing so would cause oxygen toxicity in the body and he would have died.

'Instead he probably used the chamber at home for one or two hours at a time for health reasons.'

Garay claims that some people in the industry say Jackson bought the chamber for the purification of his body by oxygen, a kind of toxic flush.

'It makes sense, with hyperbaric medicine you're getting three times more oxygen so you're saturating the body with it, so that hypoxic tissue is now getting oxygen and it's promoting the healing process and also fighting bacteria.'

But many still believe the star – who was obsessed with Peter Pan - was desperate to slow down the aging process.
'Ironically, 30 years on, scientists have actually proved that the chamber can help with anti-aging,'
Said Mr Garay.

'Scientific studies have found that HBO treatment helps promote the growth of older cells, effectively slowing down the aging process. So maybe Michael was right after all.'

Adrian Garay, President/CEO of Hyperbaric Modular Systems (HMS), tells DailyMailTV that scientists have actually proven that the chamber can help with anti-aging.

This is the warehouse near San Diego, California, where Jackson's rejuvenation chamber has been stored since Hyperbaric Modular Systems aquired in 25 years ago.

There's around 1,000 hyperbaric oxygen chambers in the US, about 750 of which are mono-place chambers or single person chambers like this one.

The Sechrist 2500B is now obsolete having been replaced with more modern versions.
HMS makes chambers mainly for the medical world, for diving facilities or tunneling operations and ships them around the world.

Garay said his company first acquired Jackson's chamber more than 25 years ago.
It's unclear what Jackson did with his chamber once he finished with it, but it eventually found its way to another hospital in Santa Monica.

HMS were then given the chamber as a form of payment for work they had done for that hospital - and along with it came tales of its previous owner.

Today the 33-year-old chamber is still in prime condition and kept under a dust sheet in a shipping container at the firm's depot in National City, near San Diego.

Garay, 38, who has worked his way up through the company for decades, said the chamber provides a quirky point of interest for visitors, although he confesses he would consider selling it to the right buyer.

He added:
"People are still finding out what this wonderful thing called oxygen does in the body, as an industry we're growing every year.

'There are very real benefits to this kind of treatment, Michael was definitely on to something.'

I STRUGGLED INTO JACKO'S OXYGEN CHAMBER DESPITE BEING 6FT 5: DAILYMAIL.COM'S RYAN PARRY GOES INSIDE KING OF POP'S ETERNAL LIFE MACHINE.

It's an intimidating futuristic glass cylinder more at home in a sci-fi movie than in your front room.

So I set out to experience why the King of Pop liked to spend his time inside his very own hyperbaric oxygen chamber.

I slid in through the clunky vault like door and immediately began to feel claustrophobic behind the two-inch thick glass - being 6ft 5ins didn't help matters either. (Jacko was an easier to fit 5ft 9ins.)

Patients would typically slide inside the narrow cylinder from a hospital gurney, but with none in sight I had to negotiate my way in from a tiny step ladder. It wasn’t the most graceful of entrances but I managed to do it - all in the name of art of course.

HOW TO GET INTO JACKO'S OXYGEN MACHINE (AND GET OUT!)
You can hear little from outside the chamber and everything looks slightly distorted through the glass - I'm sure goldfish feel the same.

The heavy door slammed shut behind my head and I was trapped in my own surreal space which felt almost like a vacuum.
Patients can communicate via intercom, as well as watch TV, listen to music, or just take a nap.

Once the oxygen is turned on, the changing pressure is the same as that felt in an airplane during take-off or landing.

Patients are told to equalize the ear/sinus pressure by yawning, swallowing, or attempting to blow through the nose while holding it shut.

During the treatment you breath up to three times as much oxygen to tissues as would breathing room air.
It's believed the treatment, which lasts one to two hours, can often feel euphoric and energy boosting.

Unfortunately, the oxygen wasn't connected inside the Hyperbaric Modular Systems warehouse - so I'll have to try again to see if I really will live to 150.

CUBA CLAIMS CANADIAN PRIME MINISTER IS FIDEL CASTRO'S SON.

The suicide note left by Fidel Castro’s eldest son has rocked the Cuban nation this week, with the most astonishing revelation being the claim that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was his half-brother and the son of the late Fidel Castro. The handwritten note left by Fidel Castro Diaz-Balart, 68, the eldest of Fidel Castro’s children, appears to confirm the longstanding rumor in Cuba that Fidel Castro fathered Justin Trudeau after a public tryst with Margaret Trudeau in 1970. “ Castro Diaz-Balart, who had been attended by a group of doctors for several months due to a state of profound depression, committed suicide this morning ,”  Cubadebate website reported. The death of the high-profile government nuclear scientist, also known as “Fidelito”, or Little Fidel, because of how much he looked like his father, stunned the nation, however it is his “ explosive ” suicide note that has set tongues wagging in Havana. A 26-YEARS-OLD WOMAN ADOPTS 14 AFRICAN ORPHANS.

London, ENGLAND: A young British woman has become mum to a staggering 14 Tanzanian children she met after volunteering in an orphanage on her gap year. Letty McMaster, 26, was just 18 years old when a month-long trip volunteering at an orphanage in Africa changed her life forever. She ended up staying for three years to support the children she had met, and when the orphanage shut down, Letty took in nine youngsters who would have been left homeless. Seven years on, she lives with the children after becoming legal guardian to them ALL - as well as five more kids she met on the streets or at a safe house she runs. Letty McMaster. Letty, from Tunbridge Wells, Kent,  said:  "These children are my whole life, I raise them all on my own and they keep me going through the long hours of juggling everything. MALARIA VACCINE PROVES HIGHLY EFFECTIVE IN BURKINA FASO.

A vaccine against malaria has been shown to be highly effective in trials in Africa, holding out the real possibility of slashing the death toll of a disease that kills 400,000 mostly small children every year. The vaccine, developed by scientists at the Jenner Institute of Oxford University, showed up to 77% efficacy in a trial of 450 children in Burkina Faso over 12 months. The hunt for a malaria vaccine has been going on the best part of a century. One, the Mosquirix vaccine developed by GlaxoSmithKline, has been through lengthy clinical trials but is only partially effective, preventing 39% of malaria cases and 29% of severe malaria cases among small children in Africa over four years. It is being piloted by the World  Health  Organization in parts of Kenya, Ghana and Malawi. The Oxford vaccine is the first to meet the WHO goal of 75% efficacy against the mosquito-borne parasite disease. Larger trials are now beginning, involving 4,800 children in four countries. MINERS IN NAMIBIA DISCOVER SHIPWRECK LOADED $13 MILLION WORTH OF GOLD.

Image: Dieter Noli. Diamond miners working off the coast of Africa were beyond surprised when they discovered a 500-year-old shipwreck teeming with gold worth $13 million and other treasures. The ship, aptly named ‘Bom Jesus’ or ‘Good Jesus,’ was like a miracle to the miners. Bom Jesus was first identified and discovered by geologists working for the mining company De Beers in 2008. It was found off the coast of Namibia near Oranjemund. Image: Dieter Noli. According to experts, Bom Jesus is from the Golden era of Portuguese explorers who set sail in all directions in search of new lands to colonize. The ship left Lisbon in 1533 under the supervision of Sir Francisco de Noronha. But on its way to India, it mysteriously vanished. Before the discovery, the miners were draining an artificial salt lake. As the lake dried out, many lost ships were found at the bottom of the lake. Bom Jesus was among them, and it is considered the oldest of all ...

NIGERIAN-BORN TO BE FIRST BLACK DEPUTY TREASURY SECRETARY OF U.S

Washington DC, U.S: Speaking at a Washington think tank in the summer of 2016, Adewale Adeyemo, President Barack Obama’s international economics adviser, warned about the perils of protectionism, explained how a growing Chinese economy was good for the world and talked up the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a trade deal he helped negotiate that Democrats ultimately rejected. Four years later, such talk might sound out of touch with a Democratic Party that has become even more hawkish on China and increasingly wary of sprawling international trade deals. But that was not a concern for President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr., who this week tapped Mr. Adeyemo to be deputy Treasury secretary, solidifying his team with another stalwart veteran of the Obama administration who would bring center-left economic ideas, deep experience and diversity to Mr. Biden’s top ranks. Adewale "Wally" Adeyemo (born 1981) is a Nigerian-born American attorney and political advisor serving as the first presi...

BEES 'ARRESTS' SUSPECTED THIEVES IN UGANDA.

Bees 'handcuffed' one of the suspects around the wrist, while another had the TV set reportedly stuck on his hands.  Image: Daily Monitor. Kampala, UGANDA: Two burglars who are suspected to have stolen a television set in Sofiia village, Busia Town in eastern Uganda are in police custody after they were attacked by a swarm of bees. Like police would handcuff a suspect, a swarm of bees mobbed the hands of one of the suspects, while another reportedly had the TV set stuck on his hands as they returned the stolen items to where they had been picked from. Ms Rashida Jowelia, the owner of the property, said her TV set was stolen from her house last Friday, but she decided to seek the services of a medicine man in Sofia Village rather than report the matter to police. The suspects were identified as Wycliffe Kinara and Richard Duki, both Kenyan nationals from Nakuru. Bees 'handcuffed' one of them around the wrist, while another had the TV set reportedly stuck on his hands...

THE TRIBE THAT WORSHIPS PRINCE PHILIP AS 'GOD'

Prince Philip corresponded with the villagers over the years, and sent pictures of himself holding a ceremonial club they gave him. Image: REUTERS. Tanna, VANNUATU: As Britons mourn the death of Prince Philip, they are joined by a tribal community on a Pacific island half a world away. For decades, two villages on the Vanuatuan island of Tanna have revered the Duke of Edinburgh as a god-like spiritual figure. A formal period of mourning is now under way. On Monday, 12, April, scores of tribespeople gathered in a ceremony to remember Prince Philip. Image: REUTERS. "The connection between the people on the island of Tanna and the English people is very strong... We are sending condolence messages to the Royal Family and the people of England," said tribal leader Chief Yapa, according to Reuters news agency. For the next few weeks, villagers will periodically meet to conduct rites for the duke, who is seen as a "recycled descendant of a very powerful spirit or god th...

CAR STOLEN BY KENYAN EX-MINISTER FOUND ABANDONED.

Nairobi, KENYA: A classic Mercedes Benz stolen from a showroom in Nairobi by former minister Paul Ngei has been found in a deplorable state. Photos of the car which were shared on social media showed it mounted on stones and without wheels, its bonnet wide open and its paint cracking up. The Mercedes Benz 300SEL registration number KNM 190 was a premium car in its heyday. Paul Joseph Ngei (18 October 1923 – 15 August 2004) was a Kenyan politician who was imprisoned for his role in the anti-colonial movement, but who went on to hold several government ministerial positions after Kenya became independent. Paul Ngei walked into the famous car showroom in Nairobi (DT Dobie) in the 1970s and drove away with the vehicle never to return or pay for it. At the time of its release, it was the world's fastest four-door car and when Ngei was pushed to pay for the vehicle, he would always refer the agents to State House and ask them to send the bill there. The rogue minister drove the car for m...

YOUNG GIRLS FROM INDIA, PAKISTAN & NEPAL ARE TRAFFICKED TO WORK IN KENYAN NIGHTCLUBS.

Nairobi, KENYA: Nepali beautician Sheela* did not think twice about ditching her salon job when she received a call offering seven times her salary to work as a cultural dancer at a nightclub in Kenya. It did not matter that the 23-year-old woman from a village in the Himalayan foothills had never heard of the East African nation. Or that she had no experience as a dancer, had never met the owner of the club and was not shown an employment contract. With elderly parents to care for and medical bills to clear after her brother suffered a motorcycle accident, the offer of a monthly salary of $600, with food, housing and transport costs all covered, was a no-brainer for Sheela. "[But] it was not what I expected," said Sheela, who was rescued with 11 other Nepali women from a nightclub in Kenya's coastal city of Mombasa in April where she danced on stage from 9pm to 4am getting tips from male clients. "I was told that being escorted everywhere by the ...
